Re: Official Call Letter for LCLAA’s Educational Conference in Puerto Rico

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to LCLAA’s Leadership Development and Educational Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico. LCLAA convenes its membership at educational conferences with the purpose to build knowledge, capacity and to create alliances to strategically tackle key challenges that are affecting the well-being of Latino working families.

It started in Puerto Rico and it has expanded to Wisconsin and several states, where legislatures across the U.S. are rolling out plans to take away collective bargaining rights from workers and deal a blow to the unions that protect them.  Labor laws, safety protections and the right to bargain collectively for wages, benefits and working conditions are what define job quality today and are the result of hard-fought battles by labor unions and workers.  We are all workers and we stand tall for the dignity of work.  We share hardships and a common struggle against injustice.  Empowering workers and building a strong labor movement is an ongoing fight for LCLAA, this is why the theme of our conference revolves around the “We Are One/Somos Uno” campaign with a focus on the collaborative work that labor and the Latino community must do to place working families at the center of the nation’s agenda.

We hope to see you at our educational conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico from August 4th- 6th, 2011.  This is a unique opportunity where we will convene hundreds of Latino, labor, business and community leaders at the impressive Caribe Hilton Hotel to analyze central issues affecting the Latino community.  For more details contact our Director of Operations, Karla Pineda at 202-508-6919 or via e-mail at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Join us for the work ahead and also to find out why they call Puerto Rico, “The Island of Enchantment.”

Sincerely,
