Election Day is Coming: Make Your Voting Plan

With just 40 days until Election Day, the time to get ready is now! LCLAA is calling on our members, hermanos y hermanas del sindicato, families, and allies, especially in Texas, Virginia, Michigan, and Wisconsin—to get registered, to check your voter registration status, and help others get prepared for this election cycle.
Don’t wait until the last minute! Get informed, get prepared, and make your voting plan.
Voting requirements and deadlines vary by state. Check with your state or local election officials to know what you need to register and cast your ballot. Then, help your coworkers, familia, amigos, and neighbors vote. A strong democracy depends on informed participation, and we can all help make sure our communities are ready to make their voices heard.
Be the reason someone votes! Our communities are seeking poll workers. If you speak Spanish or another language, your skills can be especially valuable in helping voters navigate the process. In many states across the country, voters don’t have to wait until Election Day to vote! With Early voting, millions of people can cast their votes safely ahead of Nov. 3rd.
What is Early Voting? Early voting is what it sounds like– voting ahead of Election Day! In this year’s midterm elections, 97 percent of eligible voters will be able to cast their ballots early– either via in-person early voting and/or by voting by mail. Why Do Many Workers Opt to Vote Early? Between work, homework, taking care of loved ones, and life, sometimes it feels like there aren’t enough hours in the day! Early voting gives working people more flexibility to cast their ballot at a time and date that works best for them.
Does My State Have Early Voting? Options for Early voting and the deadlines vary by state. Depending on where you live, your vote early options may include: - In-person Early Voting: A voter goes to their polling place and casts their ballot before Election Day.
- In-person Absentee Voting: A voter goes to their polling place and casts an absentee ballot before Election Day.
- Voting by mail: A voter receives a ballot by mail and returns it by mail, ballot drop box, or at an election office.

Election Day is just a few weeks away and our communities need us!
Election officers across the country are still recruiting poll workers and alternates. LCLAA encourages our members, amigos, familia, and allies to check with their local election officials and consider signing up to be a poll worker.
Spanish-speaking and bilingual poll workers are especially important to help voters access language assistance and navigate the voting process. Serve your community. Invite others to join and help spread the word.

On September 19, LCLAA members from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., and communities across the country came together in the Yakima Valley to stand in solidarity with immigrant workers and families impacted by immigration enforcement.
