Time to Engage Our Communities
Querida Familia LCLAA
March is a month full of action, reflection, and collective power. From International Women’s Day to No Kings Day, to the picket lines where workers continue to fight for fair wages, justice, and dignity on the job, this month reminds us that progress is never handed to us – it is earned through courage, unidad y persistencia. Across our communities, working people are standing up, speaking out, and demanding the respect and fairness they deserve.
As we lift up the leadership of women and honor the resilience of those who paved the way before us, we must also recommit ourselves to protecting the democratic values and hard-fought victories that define our labor movement. We cannot support policies that weaken our democracy, silence our voices, or attempt to erase nuestro legado y nuestros logros. Our history is rooted in struggle, sacrifice, solidarity, and unity – and we have the responsibility to defend it.
We are approaching a decisive moment, with critical elections ahead and the proposed SAVE Act threatening to create new barriers to the ballot box. For millions of women—especially those who have changed their names due to marriage or divorce—if passed, this legislation could make voter registration more complicated and burdensome. Working women, seniors, and low-income voters could face unnecessary obstacles to exercising their fundamental right to vote. That is why we must remain organized, informed, and vigilant in defending the voting rights of all women and working families.
We must work together to educate and mobilize our communities, counter misinformation with truth, and encourage civic participation – even in the face of fear and intimidation. Let us stand firm, support one another, and ensure that every eligible voter knows their rights and exercises their right to vote.
Juntos, through action and solidarity, we will meet this moment and continue building a future grounded in justice, dignity, and democracy for all.
In Solidarity,
Evelyn DeJesus,
LCLAA National President.
